People often call or stop in our store asking what to do with their bridesmaid gown, prom gown, wedding gown and others. Sometimes they get lucky and a friend offers to buy it but more often it just hangs in the closet. Formal wear shops don’t buy gowns from individuals since they offer new merchandise available from the designers. So when you are buying that gown, think of it as a vacation or concert tickets. Once it’s worn or used, you’re left with great memories.
That’s not to say that the gown doesn’t have any more value. There are plenty of places that will accept your gown as a donation so that your generosity can provide someone with the “princess dress” that she’s dreamed of since she was a little girl. Local thrift stores can provide a receipt for tax deduction as well as support local jobs.
